Birmingham born and based artist, Kate Penelope Knowles:
I am a sociable person, comfortable working alone or collaboratively. In both situations, I am motivated and hardworking. My organisational skills are good, this being a necessary quality gained from running my own business and raising my four children.
My art practice is very broad, allowing me to produce work across many disciplines: painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, video and printmaking.
Education:
2018-2020: Birmingham City University, MA Fine Art -yet to receive a grade.
2009-2013: Birmingham City University, BA (Hons) Fine Art ( 2:1)
2007-2008: Sutton Coldfield College, Art Foundation Diploma (Distinction) Awarded Student of the Year.
1978-1980: Camberwell School of Art, BA (Hons) Illustration (not completed- left to have my son Thomas.

Work:
1995-2007: Self-employed - commissions for hand-painted portraits and greetings cards. Also sales of greetings cards at craft shows and fairs.
2000-2005: Ravenswood Designs - my own business designing Cross-stitch and Tapestry kits, which I packaged and sold online through my website, through advertisements in magazines and by exhibiting at craft shows at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham.
March 1998: 'Crafts Diary' commission to design magazine front cover.
1998: The National Health Service - commission to design an informative, illustrated brochure and accompanying poster explaining the advantages of Water Births, for use by the Maternity department at Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield.
1995: The Screen Commission magazine- designed an advertisement for the magazine.
Interests:
Fine art and creating artworks, painting, drawing, exhibiting and curating,
visiting galleries and museums, travelling, biological sciences.
